Romania Qualified for the Eurovision Final!
Thursday evening, Luminita&Sistem qualified Romania in the Eurovision
final on Saturday, May 21st.
As it was announced, the ten countries in semifinal that gained the right
to compete with the other 14 finalists were decided after the televote in
39 countries and the order in which they were announced (by choosing the
envelopes) is the order in which they will perform in the final.
Thus, on Saturday night, Romania will be the fourth entry, after Hungary,
Great Britain and Malta.
Although the Romanian representatives' performance was good, once they got
to the Green Room, they inevitably became nervous. Even though, Luminita
and the boys from Sistem made photographs with the other delegations and
found the strength to make jokes and they waited, with confidence, for the
final results.
In the show hall, Romania had a pretty small group of supporters, but very
noisy, made up of the rest of the Romanian delegation, the Romanian
journalists in Kiev, the representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Ukraine
and, of course, the Ukrainian friends of the delegation, who waved the
Romanian flag and supported "Let Me Try". The group was also
made up of Romanians who work in Ukraine, including Florin Cernat, the
football player of Dinamo Kiev and a good friend of the boys from Sistem.
After the show ended, there was a press conference where each country was
represented by two members of its delegation. Luminita Anghel and Florin
Romascu (Phlo from Sistem) represented the Romanian delegation in front of
the journalists all over Europe. Wearing the Romanian flags, they stressed
their pride to representRomania and the desire to have a great show from
now on, too.
As intense as the joy of the qualification was, the euphoria quickly
passed away, since the worries for the Saturday contest began. Although
after the press conference (which ended at 02.00 in the morning) there has
been an after-party, the Romanian artists decided to go to the hotel and
have some rest for the Friday rehearsals. Everybody had their biggest
surprise when the other delegations in the hotel (Bulgaria, Andorra,Portugal) gave a
great welcome with applause and congratulations for the Romanian team. It
was an extraordinary fair-play gesture.
Friday, the Romanian artists are having a busy day, with two rehearsals.
Saturday evening, in Kiev,Luminita&Sistem are playing again, for the
European public, "Let Me Try"!
News from Kiev, about Luminita&Sistem.
Sunday, May 15th, when people generally get some week-end rest, the
Romanian artists had an extremely busy day. Thus, in the morning, they
rehearsed and had a press conference, and after that the team split:
Luminita and two of the boys from Sistem went for two interviews, one for
the local radio station Kiev 1 and the second for the national tv
station Kiev, while the others handled the organisation and the rehearsal
for the evening show in Euroclub Arena.
It was for the first time that the representatives of Romania to
Eurovision had a 30 minutes show for the delegations and for the
accredited press to the contest. Although the concert started an hour
later than the time it had been announced, there were pretty many viewers
in front of the scene and their number increased the moment Sistem
appeared on stage. Unfortunately, the organisers didn't allow free
entrance and the show was open only for the Eurovision delegations.
Nevertheless, there were about 200 persons, many of them journalists. The
climax of the show was in the end, when the video of "Let Me
Try" was projected (there is a huge screen behind the stage) and
Luminita and Sistem sang the song of Romania (photo attached). The
audience practically went on fire and everybody started to sing the
chorus. In the end, the Romanians were rewarded with long applause. The
Euroclub staff declared themselves the fans of Luminita and Sistem, they
congratulated the Romanian artists and said they would vote for Romania,
as it deserves to win!
Monday, May 16th, after a short chat session during which Luminita
answered the questions from Israel (in English, Yiddish and Romanian), the
whole delegation participated in the official opening of Eurovision Song
Contest 2005, a very elegant party that took place in the garden of
Mariinskiy Palace, the headquarters of the Ukrainian President. Luminita
and the boys from Sistem made a lot of pictures, they gave declarations
and met the artists from the other countries. Luminita was asked to give
interviews for several radio and tv stations, but also for Eurovision fans
web sites. Everybody asked Luminita to sing, and, even if she had decided
to take a "voice break", she couldn't say no.
Tuesday is somehow an easier day, since it began with a live interview of
the Romanian artists for Gala FM radio station and the schedule
continues in the evening, with a visit to the Romanian Embassy in Kiev
Luminita&Sistem are closely watched by the journalists in Kiev
After they were the guests of the Romanian Embassy in
Kiev and they made a tour of the city on Saturday,
Luminita&Sistem returned to work on Sunday. They had
their second rehearsal on May 15th, followed by the
second press conference. The rehearsal of the Romanian
artists, to whom the accredited journalists have
access, was followed by intense applause. This time,
the barrels of the boys from Sistem were put on
platforms, especially built by the organisers, so that
they wouldn't scratch the scene and they could be
easily transported.
After many efforts and discussions, the head of the
Romanian delegation, Dan Manoliu, obtained the
organisers's agreement for Sistem to use some of their
special effects especially prepared for the Eurovision
Song Contest. Thus, the boys will be allowed to use
the grinders on stage, but they had to renounce to the
fire. In exchange, the organisers will make
projections of flames on the huge screens around the
scene. The negotiations for the agreement to use the
special effects were permanently watched by the
journalists in Kiev, who asked the Romanian artists several
questions about this subject. The boys from Sistem
were asked how they manage the transportation of the
barrels and of the other objects they use for the
special effects. Just as during the first press
conference, Luminita was asked to sing a song, this
time in Romanian.
In the press conference, the Romanian artists invited
everybody to come on Sunday night from 22,00 at a special show offered
by Sistem in the Euroclub Arena. This is the first time that the Romanian
delegation is having a concert for the foreign delegations and for the
journalists, before the Eurovision Contest. During the concert, the
boys from Sistem will offer a 30 minutes complete show, meaning they will
use all the effects they had prepared for the contest and that
they won't be allowed to use on stage. Of course, Luminita will
perform, too, and the Romanian show on Sunday evening will conclude, of course,
with the song "Let Me Try".
Monday evening, the Romanian artists will be chatting live with Israel,
from the Eurovision Press Center in Kiev. More than 500 fans are
expected to join the chatroom.
Luminita and Sistem disappointed after rehearsal (esctoday.com)
Although the yellow oil barrels that Sistem brought fit well with the powerful red colour of the stage, Luminita's vocal performance was slightly disappointing during the first Romanian rehearsal. Particularly timing appeared to be problematic.
During the press conference, right after the rehearsal, one of the members of Sistem expressed his disappointment about the limited possibility to perform the act they prepared. "We also planned to use pyrotechnics during our act and we still hope it will be possible in the end", one of the Sistem drummers said. The Kyiv fire department decided to forbid the use of pyrotechnics, which particularly affected the Romanian act.
At the press conference we had the chance to learn more about Luminita and Sistem. She explained that her name means 'little light' and that she's not a family member of Monica Anghel, who represented Romania in 2002 with Tell me why, but that they are good friends!
Luminita sings for about 14 years. "I love to sing, my life IS singing. I prefer pop rock and ballads", she explained. She is working on the third album and has won seven international prizes. "I hope this will be the 8th one. We came here for something and although I am modest, I really hope for a victory".
In 1994, 1995 and 2000, Luminita Anghel participated in the national Romanian selections. "When I received a call from the writer of the song, asking if I wanted to try again, I wanted to hear the song first. It's made for the Eurovision Song Contest, but I thought we needed a show. This contest is more than a song contest, so I called my friends from Sistem and after four days they called me and agreed to join".
The Romanian Head of Delegation answered a question about a possible victory: "I think we are ready now to organise a Eurovision Song Contest for next year in Romania. And even the weather is better than in Kyiv", he said. However, organising a Eurovision Song Contest takes more than some sunshine...
Friday, 13 of May
Luminita&Sistem Were Well Received by the Press in Kiev
Luminita&Sistem had their first rehearsal on Friday,May 13rd, at 09.30,
followed immediately by their first press conference in Kiev. The
Romanian artists are having some problems with the show they prepared
for the European public: the organisers won't allow them to
use the special effects prepared for the show.
The head of the Romanian delegation, Dan Manoliu, is still trying to
convince the set director that the effects of the boys from Sistem are not
going to damage the scene. The set director says the scene,
which is made of glass, may be scratched by the sparkles of the grinder.
As for the interdiction to use the fire, the organisers haven't offered an
argument.
As opposed to the organisers, the press in Kiev received the Romanian
delegation very well. After a spectacular entrance, the Romanian artists
sang together "Let Me Try" to the journalists. The
journalists were impressed by the "instruments" of the
boys from Sistem and by Luminita's voice. Actually,
she was asked by the press to sing one more song, this time in French.
When the conference has finished, there was a short photo session, during
which the boys from Sistem could finally use their grinders.
The journalists wished good luck to the Romanian delegation and left the
press conference humming the song "Let Me try".
The next rehearsal of the Romanian artists is to take place on Sunday,
May 15th, at 11.00, and it will be followed again by a press conference.
Sunday is also the day that the Romanian delegation will be given a
final answer as far as the special effects are concerned.
Wednesday 11-Thursday 12 of May
The Romanian Eurovision Delegation Has Arrived to Kiev
Wednesday evening, the Romanian Eurovision delegation arrived to Kiev,
after an exhausting trip of almost 14 hours.
Luminita has been recognised on the airport in Prague (where she spent
several hours waiting for the flight to Kiev) by various travellers
(most of them Romanians), who asked autographs and with whom our artist
made photographs. All day long, she received on her mobile phone many
messages of encouragement, support and compliments from the Romanian
journalists but, mostly, from the viewers of TVRInternational and her
Romanian fans who live abroad.
As soon as the plane landed in Kiev, the Romanian artists were received
by a tv crew of the hosts, who wanted to take a shot of their first steps
on Ukrainean land and to take their declarations.
But the pleasant surprises didn't stop here! Much to everybody's relief,
once arrived in the Kiev airport, the formalities for entering Ukraine went
extremely simple; the Romanian delegation was privileged and received as a
guest of honour. The whole delegation was afraid they would have to
explain to the customs officers that the special effects in the luggage of
the boys from Sistem are for the show and not for the
construction of some bomb. Well, there wasn't any check; more than that,
one of the customs officers have welcomed everyone in Romanian language!
Thursday, the artists spent most of the day at the Sports Palace, the
venue where the contest is going to take place. Friday morning, Romania
was the first country to rehearse and to have a press conference, so
the Romanian delegation had much work to do, regarding the technical
arrangements, the organisation of the conference and the promotion.
The Ukrainans have set up a special tv channel that broadcasts during
the whole day everything that is happening in the rehearsal and the
conference hall.
So, whether you are at the hotel, at the restaurant or in the press
center, you can watch permanently what is happening on the stage or in the
conference room. The schedule made up by organisers for the thousands of
participants is very precisely followed and there is plenty of work
everywhere.
Promotion tour in Malta for Romania's representatives in the Eurovision Song Contest
After Greece and Cyprus, the promotion tour of the Romanian representatives in the Eurovision Song Contest continued with Luminita and Zoli's visit in Malta (april 29 and 30). Their travel was however full of adventure, as they almost lost their plane for Malta in Rome, where they made a hope. Fortunately, the Romanian delegation was very lucky and managed to catch the flight for Mlata, after having waited for a long time.
The schedule of the Romanian artists was very busy. Ever since they got on the airport, they were warmly welcome by the chief of the Maltesian delegation, Mr. Martin Gauci (whom Luminita knew since 2002, when she had won a trophey in Malta), as well as by the reporters of a tv station for youngsters, who were extremely interested in the Romanian artists and their song. Luminita and Zoli's visit continued the next day with a real tv marathon: they were invited in four tv live shows, as well as in a radio station, were they recorded a half-hour interview. This tour ended with our artists' meeting with the Minister of Culture and the Prime Minister of Malta (see photo), who were very interested in knowing the Roamnian representatives in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Thus, the Romanian delegation was warmly received in Malta, where the Eurovision Song Contest is a real national event and a reason for holiday.
Other photos from the tour in Malta can be seen at www.esctoday.com/multimedia/gallery/77
The romanian delegation dissapointed with NTU's decision to forbid pyrotechnics.
When we saw the video of Romania everyone was clever enough to understand that those guys there, will use something special on stage. Though NTU's decision to prohibit the pyrotechnics use from any participant dissapointed the Romanians very much especially since it came only eight days before they fly to the Eurovision capital.
Romanian delegation argues
"It's true that the interdiction for pyrotechnic effects came a little too late. Eight days before our departure to Kyiv, when the concept for our show was ready, but there are not only pyrotechnics in the Sistem show. There's a special gel we are using that is burning very fast and complete and maybe we will use the hand held sanders to create sparks. We have also used them in the studio of the Romanian Television during the national final and it was completely safe! "We will show the organisers what it's all about and we will help them to make the right decision. We have to tell you that the Ukrainian authorities have been very supportive until now with everything we needed, including the transportation of the barrells which was not the most simple thing."
Romanian broadcaster informed the organizers and EBU about this act on the delegation meeting on late March and NTU's decision surely affects the Romanian entry. Although some might consider this a minor thing, it is not comofrtable for a whole national entry to change something in the last minute. This might not only affect Romania in the scoreboard but also the moral of the team. After all this is how the creators of this song was thinking the song to be presented to the public. We are sure that NTU and Romanian delegation will work this out and we wish the very best of luck to Luminita and Sistem.

Luminita Anghel and percussion band Sistem are visiting Malta as part of their Eurovision Song Contest promotional tour. The Romanian representatives gave interviews for the major television and radio stations, newspapers and local Eurovision-related websites.
Luminita & Sistem present at the Eurolivin cd-launch
Luminita Anghel and Zoli Toth, leader and manger of the percussion band Sistem arrived at Malta International Airport on 28th April and will leave the island on Saturday 30th April. On their first day in Malta, the Romanian participants attended Maltasong's launch of the cd-single Eurolivin.
Plans for Kyiv revealed on Eurovision Radio
Estoday.com in collaboration with OGAE Malta caught up with Luminita & Sistem for an interview, to be aired on Eurovision Radio on Wednesday 4th May. The show has a broadcast on Super One radio with webcast live via www.super1.com at 20:45 CET.
Luminita & Sistem revealed that they will produce a very energetic, electric and powerful act on stage. "I will dance and play on the barrels with Sistem," stated Luminita. Sistem's leader confirmed that their performance will be similar to the one in the video clip and in the Romanian national final. "It will only be better...more energetic and electrifying," Luminita & Sistem agreed. "We will do our best to give the impression of an international act and do not want to look like as if we are just another Balkan-Ethnic group."
Eurovision Song Contest talk
Clearing all the doubts, Luminita confirmed that she is a good friend of Monica Anghel, who represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2002 in duet with Marcel Pavel. However they are no relatives.
Luminita & Sistem have Waterloo by Abba as their all time favourite Eurovision song. Their favourite Romanian Eurovision Song Contest entry is Dincoro de nori, the debut song from Romania at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, performed by Dan Bittman.
Luminita admitted that Romanians are not so keen on the Eurovision Song Contest due to the bad results obtained by the six previous Romanian representatives. However, Sistem noted that this year there seems to be some Eurovision-revival in the local media and among the Romanian public in general.
About the various negative reactions issued by the runner-up of the Romanian national final Loredana in the Romanian press Sistem remarked that "she didn't sing well. This is about giving a brilliant performance and she didn't. That's why she lost."
Luminita fond of Hungary, Sistem of Norway
Speaking about their favourites, Luminita mentioned the Hungarian ethnic act, while Sistem mentioned the Norwegian rock song. They don't know yet if the Eurovision Song Contest is ready for rock songs such as the ones presented by Norway, Switzerland, Greece and Russia this year. However they said that it will be an interesting and tough contest.
Luminita & Sistem also remarked that they are not worried about them being drawn right in between Norway and Hungary in the semifinal on 19th May. Nevertheless they are feeling the pressure to qualify for the final. "We are determined to win and bring the Eurovision Song Contest home," remarked Sistem leader Zoli Toth. "We will do our best because all depends on the performance on stage," concluded Lumita. We only want to win!, agreed Sistem.
Dan Manoliu 'I sincerely regret this misunderstanding...'
A misunderstading was created last week by the Greek television station Star Channel concerning the comments of the Romanian visitors for the Greek entry and Helena Paparizou. What actually the member of Sistem said on TV was that he liked the song but he doesn't believe that Greece can win this year. Those comments was aired on Star Channel as a rude comment towards Greeks who hosted the Romanian representatives.
The misunderstanding which has no base actually reached the Romanian public broadcaster and they couldn't believe the tention created by the report of the Greek television. We asked Mr. Dan Manoliu from TVR to comment this issue and here is his reaction:
Dan Manoliu reacts
"I've regretfully received the disappointing news you have sent me. And my regret is towards the TV Star Channel station who felt hurt and offended by Zoli's personal oppinion, especially after they have proved to be such great hosts for our artists and they did so much for promoting them. But in reallity, what Zoli said - it was strictly his personal oppinion and it was at no moment on purpose of offending someone's feelings, it was just the oppinion of a person that trusts in his work more than in anything else.
Zoli is like a fighter that consideres himself the best, and really belives in "Let me try" - the song he will perform in Kiev - should someone punish him for that belief? Perhaps he should have stressed more that his answer was strictly his own oppinion, as he knew very well that last year, Romanians voted in majority for Greece, who got 12 points from us.So, as I stated before, I sincerely regret this misunderstanding - because that's exactly what it was, as long as no one had the intention of offending you, and please be so kind to transmit my regrets and explanation to the TV Star Channel station.
We have kindly asked Star Channel to react on the story but still there is no reply. Hopefully within the next hours the Greek private TV station will be kind enough to react.
Luminita in Athens promising 12 pts to Helena Paparizou
Romanian representatives Luminita Anghel and Sistem were for two days in Athens Greece. During their stay they spoke to many media and press and of course to oikotimes.com. The interview with Luminita and Sistem will be published tomorrow at 11:00 CET in the morning so stay tuned.
The Romanian representatives primarily they were not eager with the Greek entry. Later on the ERT show Euromania they were more positive towards Helena and they also "promised" to Alexandra Paschalidou 12 points from Romania this year.
Luminita performed her song and she couldn't hide her love for little girls. Luminita also thanked Greek Romanian community for bringing her here and especially the Romanian nwespaper of Athens and Mrs. Monica Kehagia.
Monday April 18, from 5pm (local time) Luminita&Sistem will chat directly with their fans
Monday April 18, from 5pm (local time) Luminita&Sistem will chat directly with their fans from all over the world. During one hour, you'll be able to ask questions and get direct answers from the Romanian representatives at Eurovision 2005 if you log on www.tvr.ro/chat/eurovision.php
Luminita and Sistem have begun the rehearsals for the special coregraphy for the show in Kiev.
Thus, Luminita and Sistem have begun the rehearsals for the special coregraphy they're preparing for the show in Kiev. Being very enthusiastic, Luminita wanted herself to be a percutionist, together with the boys from Sistem; therefore, during this exercise, sticks started to flew in the air hitting some heads, a barrel rolled on Luminita's leg who got a bruised knee in the end.
Apart from the funny moments, the Romanian team.s work becomes more and more serious and challenging. The CDs with the song and the video "Let Me Try" have already been produced and will be sent for promotion to almost 500 radio and TV stations around Europe. Our team is also working very hard to make the other promotion materials (posters, logos, presentation files, etc). Apart from the Eurovision information on TVR and Star Management (Sistem.s management firm) official web sites, another Romanian web site dedicated exclusively to the Eurovision Song Contest appeared on the 4th of April: www.eurovision-ro.com.
At the beginning of this month, a detailed interview with Luminita and Sistem appeared on the esctoday web site, one of the most visited Eurovision sites in the whole world. In this interview, Luminita and Sistem speak about themselves as artists, about their collaboration, about the song, the video and their participation in the Kiev contest.
For the next period, our artists. busy agendas will become completely full as they.ll soon leave for promotion tours in various European countries, whose artists will in turn visit Bucharest.
At present, the TVR team is negotiating with Malta, Cyprus, Israel, Ukraine - but for the moment there are confirmed only the tours in Greece (the 21st.23rd of April), Cyprus (the 25th.27th of April) and Malta (the 28th.30th of April). The Romanians will in turn host the artists from Malta (the 16th.18th of April), Ukraine (the 23rd.25th of April) and Cyprus (the 22nd.24th of April), who will promote their songs running for the Kiev contest on the Romanian public television TVR.
Luminita Anghel and Sistem were awarded the VIP Special Prize.
With the occasion of the VIP Awards Ceremony that took place on Wednesday, the 6th of April, Luminita Anghel and Sistem were awarded the VIP magazine the Special Prize for their performance of having won the Eurovision national final organized by TVR in March.
In the Eurovision Song Contest of the 19th and the 21st of May, Luminita Anghel and Sistem will represent Romania with the song "Let Me Try", composed by Cristian Faur.
The Special Prize was handed in by Ovidiu Lipan Tandarica, a great artist who introduced Luminita as a person "having an excellent Sistem".
During the ceremony, Luminita promised the audience that she'll try to make all Romanians be proud of their performance in Kiev and even to show the world a better image of Romania.
Eurovision Song Contest opens Ukrainian borders.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has signed a decree to give visa-free access to the country for a limited period to all citizens of the European Union and Switzerland.
The move by Viktor Yushchenko has been motivated by the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held for the first time in Ukraine on 19 and 21 May 2005.
In order to cope with the thousands of fans and participants who will flock to the country, Yushchenko offered this move in talks with the EBU TV Director Bjørn Erichsen and Svante Stockselius, the executive supervisor of the Song Contest. The EBU is the organizer of the Eurovision Song Contest, the largest television show on the continent. The Eurovision Song Contest celebrates its 50th anniversary later this year.
This temporary decree is meant to illustrate the new openness of Ukrainian society and the country's intention to integrate the European community. It will also create a foundation for attracting investment in the national economy, trigger the active development of interpersonal contacts, "people's diplomacy", and tourism.
Under the president's decree, signed on 31 March, the visa-free entrance regime for the citizens of the EU and Switzerland will be operational from 1 May until 1 September 2005. The president's office announced that the measures are to "provide appropriate logistical support in the framework of the Eurovision Song Contest 2005".
Before this visa-free period enters into force, Ukraine will conduct a thorough analysis of all aspects of the visa-free regime with the objective of lifting travel restrictions between Ukraine, the EU and Switzerland.
Preparations for the Eurovision song contest
.
Luminita Anghel and Sistem , Romania 's representatives in this year's Eurovision song contest keep preparing for their show in Kiev . Recently, they have worked intensively on the materials promoting our artists and their song. During the shooting session that lasted 4 hours, Luminta and Sistem worked with the famous photographer Marius B.r.gan. Although everything went according to the plan, some incidents appeared: Robi (see photo, the last in the right corner) appears in the photos wearing a totally unconventional accessory . a band aid, instead of his usual piercing; and that because the previous day, while playing with Zoli's dog, Robi stepped over its tail by mistake; the dog got scared and bit Robi's left brow. Another ad-hoc member during the shooting session was David, Luminita's son, who couldn't let his mom alone and who got along very well with the others.
The boys from Sistem stated that they're preparing a brand new set of special effects for the Eurovision contest that, together with a new scenography, will allow them a more dinamic show. Thus, the preparations for the Eurovision show will begin this week.
Other news: the Eurovision organisers have already posted on the official site www.eurovision.tv information about the Romanian participants in Kiev . Moreover, the fans will soon be able to get in touch with Luminita and Sistem every week, live on the TVR chat.
The EBU officials keep up with the changes recently made in the contest rules: thus, in the final show on the 21 st of May, the countries that didn't qualify will be the first to announce their votes (in the order established during the semifinal); then the countries running in the final will announce their votes, according to the order of participation, as happened until 2003. The changes in these rules don't apply for the semifinal.
Lebanon officially withdraws
Télé-Liban has confirmed to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) the withdrawal of Lebanon from the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 (ESC 2005) to be hosted in Kiev by NTU, the national Ukrainian broadcaster, on 19 and 21 May.
According to Lebanese national legislation, Télé-Liban is not permitted to broadcast the performance of the Israeli participant, thereby breaching the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. According to the ESC rules, all national broadcasters of the countries taking part in the Contest must broadcast the entire event, comprising two live televised shows - a Semi Final and a Final.
As a consequence of withdrawing from the ESC, Télé-Liban is still under the obligation to pay its participation fee plus an additional fine. All participating countries confirmed their entries in the ESC 2005 by 15 December 2004.
With 39 countries represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, this year shall hold the record for the highest number of participants.
Luminita and Sistem won the Romanian finals for Eurovision Song Contest 2005
Luminita and Sistem won the Romanian finals for Eurovision Song Contest 2005, after a tight competition with other 11 songs. Let me try, composed by Cristian Faur, convinced the public and the jury that Luminita and the five young percussionists are the appropriate representatives for Romania, and the only ones to get to finals, in Kiev.
Luminita and Sistem had a lot of jobs to do in the meanwhile. First, they shot the video clip for the song. The video is directed by Petre Nastase, assisted by the cameraman Mihai Malaimare, son of the well-known Romanian actor and theatre manager.
The whole team, made up of more than 20 people, and the equipment, consisting of cranes, spotlights, power generating groups, a coach, two station-wagons for the artists etc., went to Vulcanii Noroiosi (Muddy Volcanoes - Buzau, in the south-east of Romania). The making of the video set up a record: they chose the location on Wednesday, 16th of March; they shot the next day, and on Saturday morning the material was already edited. "We were really lucky that it didn't rain that day. It would have been impossible to reschedule the shooting, taking into consideration the very solid logistics we had", said the director Petre Nastase. The video doesn't use many special effects, "but it's very well edited", reveals the director. The central character is the location itself, unique in Europe, a reason enough to be chosen. The landscape inspired the protagonists, who came up with all kinds of combinations of clothes chosen by Ciprian Sipos, fashion designer. A lot of photos were taken on the spot. Even if the whole team wanted to avoid hazards, there were also some unexpected events. During the night shots, because of the wind, Zoli's shirt caught fire from the flames on his barrel, ruining it. At her coming back home, Luminita wasn't exactly well either, since she was feverish.
The video is produced by TVRMedia, the record company of the Romanian Television.
